Learning objectives
The content of the Train'ing weeks is oriented towards awareness, learning by doing and letting students experience situations to enable them to acquire and consolidate the skills expected of a Centralien engineer:
- Understand the fundamental principles of interpersonal communication
- Understand the diversity of different communication profiles and their characteristics
- Experience teamwork
- Be aware of socio-environmental and scientific issues
Description of the programme
Train'ing is a time dedicated to the integration of the skills of Centralien engineers, based on three main areas: scientific integration, societal and cultural exposure, and professional skills.
Regarding scientific integration, scientific activities will be organised, linked to the components of the C1 (Scientific and technical innovation) and C2 (Professional skills) competencies. These activities are spread over 3 days (24h. student) around a theme by articulating different learning formats (practical work, experiment, visit, project, workshops, etc).
The professional skills include workshops for learning and practising soft skills (behavioural agility and team management) as well as workshops for learning and practising soft skills. Team management) as well as weeks dedicated to specific activities of the innovation project (ideation weeks) evaluated by a jury.
Eventually, the cultural and societal exposure allows students to be open to disciplines such as Humanities, Arts and and different fields of Social Sciences in order to develop their ability to appropriate other cultures, to encourage and feed their curiosity and creativity,
last but not least, these Train'ing activities promote student awareness of major societal and environmental issues. In accordance with the institution's strategic axes, the proposed themes are based on the SEED objectives
Generic central skills and knowledge targeted in the discipline
Train'ing is the ideal time for integrating the skills of the central engineer. As such, all five are addressed in the three pillars of Train'ing weeks: scientific integration, cultural and societal exposure and professional skills.
How knowledge is tested
The various training activities of the three above-mentioned strands are assessed by continuous assessment.
Each week gives assessment. The offer of cultural and societal exposure is assessed both by attendance at a minimum number of actions defined at the beginning of the year and by the submission of reports or essays.
