Description of the programme
This UE is an initiation to social sciences, mainly sociology and psychology.
We present the scientific approach specific to the SHS (problematization, investigative posture, conceptualization) and some fundamental concepts to explain individual and collective behaviors (socialization, social integration, regulation, discrimination, stereotype, social influence...), social structures and their dynamics (modernity, rationalization, disenchantment of the world, individualization...).
We focuse on the contemporary transformations of work and organizations. We question the roles and professional identities of engineers in a changing world. We analyze and discuss organizational innovations with regard to the historical foundations of management. We analyze the evolution of working conditions and the problems of mental health at work (psychosocial risks).
Finally, we study the psychological and social mechanisms of production of stereotypes, discrimination, racism and anti-semitism.
The teaching methods alternate lectures, practical work, fieldwork, case studies and visits. We give a large place to personal work and group work.
